| A Single Strand started out of love of jewelry and a need for a necklace to go with an evening dress for a formal event. I had a great dress but no jewelry to go with it…so I went through my jewelry box, came up with an old strand of amber my Mother had given me years before, re-made it into a sophisticated necklace and was amazed at how many ladies asked me where I had bought it! It started me thinking....

| I have always loved fashion. I spent hours as a girl making dresses for my dolls – I have to confess I was never good a translating what was in my head to fabric. I really can’t draw at all. Inspiration for my dresses came from going through the trunks my Mother had, filled with my Grandmother’s clothes from the 1920’s and 1930’s. The elegance of those years enthralled me.

| After college, I headed off to New York and spent 15 years working in the fashion industry. Then came children and a desire to be at home with them. Now that they are growing up and need me less as a hands on Mom, and more as a resource to go to when they actually need something, usually money and food, I decided it was time to go back to creating, this time in the accessories world.

| I love jewelry, hair accessories, scarves, wraps and handbags. Accessories can change an outfit and make it your own. All of us have a favorite outfit, rather than replacing it, update it with a new accessory. Have fun exploring and creating your own style!
